Golf Is Art: The Launch Event of the Matize × Ciel Glue Collaboration
On July 3rd, we gathered in the garden of LOT – Labels of Tomorrow, in Porto, to celebrate the launch of Matize × Ciel Glue, a limited-edition collaboration bringing together golf, contemporary art and Atlantic culture.
More than the presentation of the three exclusive T-shirts and a selection of original artworks, the event became a moment to bring the community together around creativity, craftsmanship and a shared appreciation for the lifestyle surrounding the game.
A Summer Afternoon at LOT
On a warm summer afternoon, the LOT garden became the setting for the collaboration to come to life.
Guests explored the collection, discovered Ciel Glue’s original collage artworks and enjoyed an evening of food, drinks, music and mini golf. Between conversations, swings and DJ sounds, the atmosphere reflected the relaxed and creative spirit behind the project.
Rather than simply launching a collection, the event celebrated the meeting of different worlds and the people helping shape a new vision of contemporary golf culture.
The Collaboration
The collaboration between Matize and French artist Ciel Glue was born from a shared connection to Portugal’s Atlantic coast and the landscapes that surround it.
Inspired by rugged coastlines, endless fairways, salt air and the movement of the ocean, the project explores the natural relationship between golf, surfing and visual art.Three limited-edition T-shirts were created for the
collaboration, each featuring an original collage by Ciel Glue. A selection of the artist’s original works was also exhibited during the event, allowing guests to experience the artwork beyond the garments.
Through the collection, golf becomes more than a sport. It becomes a space for creativity, expression and everyday culture.
About Ciel Glue
Originally from Paris and now based in Portugal, Ciel Glue works predominantly with collage, combining vintage magazines, old books, novels and coloured paper to create new visual narratives.
His artistic language first developed through his passion for surfing before naturally expanding into other worlds, including golf, sailing and skiing. Across his work, one idea remains constant: understanding and reading a landscape before moving through it.
His concepts Reading the Wave, Reading the Green and Reading the Slopes reflect this philosophy, while giving forgotten vintage imagery a new context.
By bringing together memory, movement and nature, his work creates a timeless visual language that made the collaboration with Matize feel both natural and authentic.
Bringing the Collection to Life
Displaying the T-shirts alongside the original artworks offered guests a closer look at the creative process behind each piece.
The transition from handmade collage to printed garment highlighted the intention of the collaboration: to create pieces that can be worn, collected and appreciated as artistic objects.
Throughout the evening, conversations moved naturally between golf, surfing, design, Portuguese culture and craftsmanship, capturing the spirit that inspired the project from the very beginning.
Matize × Ciel Glue is a celebration of art on and beyond the green.
