Teatro da Trindade - Lisbon
What happens when a Victorian dream gets a Portuguese twist?
That’s a question to be answered at Teatro da Trindade. Here, rabbits are always late, queens have a flair for drama, and a girl named Alice dares to dive headfirst into a world where nothing makes sense - and that’s exactly why it’s brilliant.
Marco Medeiros’ new production turns Lewis Carroll’s tale upside down (literally). With bold staging, lavish costumes, and enough eccentric characters to fill three WhatsApp groups, it’s a trip the audience won’t forget.
With an unhinged Mad Hatter, a Cheshire Cat that grins like it knows all the secrets, and Alice carrying herself with humor and deliberate mischief, nonsense and fun are guaranteed.
At Teatro da Trindade, Soraia Tavares takes center stage as Alice. Supporting her are FF, Ruben Madureira, Sissi Martins, Diogo Mesquita, Rita Tristão da Silva, Alexandre Carvalho, JP Costa, Mariana Lencastre, and Romeu Vala, who turn into a madcap mix of hatters, cats, queens, and mysterious critters.
The musical direction is by Artur Guimarães, with vocal direction and assistance by Carlos Meireles.
This musical is a golden ticket for families, dreamers, theatre lovers, and anyone who secretly wishes their lives had talking caterpillars. Alice e o País das Maravilhas is a whirlwind of color and imagination. Just don’t forget: Wonderland pays no mind to logic. Asking for directions never helps.

Lisbon
Henrique Feist brings Stephen Sondheim’s Company to Portugal, and suddenly, commitment issues have never sounded so good.
Featuring Nuno Feist as Musical Director and Valter Mira as Creative Director, this is a witty and relatable look at marriage, friendship, and whether a bachelor should finally "settle down” or just order more wine.
The production balances humor and poignancy: the couples are equal parts lovable and absurd. Their stories are a musical therapy session you didn’t know you needed. The dialogues crackle, and Sondheim’s rhythms make you wonder why your own relationships don’t come with a backing track.
For Company at Casino Estoril, Henrique Feist leads as Robert (aka Bobby), the bachelor grappling with the big question: Is it better to live single or coupled? Wanda Stuart steps in as Joanne, Pedro Pernas plays Larry, and Ana Capote brings Amy’s neurotic wedding day energy. The cast also includes Valter Mira, Bárbara Correia, Diogo Leite, Rafaela Monteiro, MartimMesquita Guimarães, Margarida Silva, Bruno Madeira, Filipa Azevedo, Vânia Blubird, and Debbie Monteiro, all tackling New York’s quirkiest couples and partygoers.
Set in New York City in 1970, the musical is sophisticated, funny, and slightly bittersweet. Through dinners, dates, and candid conversations, the audience feels Bobby’s fear of commitment and the yearning for love. Company is a top choice for anyone who’s ever gone on a date, attended a wedding, or just tried to explain to their parents why being single is also a valid life choice.

Teatro Nacional São João - Porto
Head to Teatro Nacional São João and step into a theater experience crafted by Swiss writer Robert Walser, the author behind the saying “Theater is like a dream.”
Seven years after his last visit, director Nuno Carinhas returns to TNSJ with a production that inverts fairy tales. In this production, Snow White forgives the evil queen who tried to kill her, Cinderella questions whether her prince really has what it takes, while happily embracing the hatred from her stepsisters, and Sleeping Beauty rues the day an absurd, everyday character interrupted her beauty sleep.
These “dramalhetes” by Walser start right where Grimms’ tales leave off.
Through a clever mix of surreal poetry, wit, and dark humour, Carinhas invites you into a world where happily-ever-after is complicated, characters are delightfully flawed, and the endings everyone knows and loves are anything but predictable. Looking for the ultimate theatre night in town? Think of it as a wide-awake jolt to the imagination.
