Lisbon’s Summer Stage is Set

Lisbon’s Summer Stage is Set

This summer, Lisbon transforms into a cultural playground—where Shakespeare dances to Portuguese rock, the Addams Family sings their hearts out, and historic venues come alive with music from around the world. Whether you’re into musicals, classical concerts, or just looking for a night out with a twist, there’s something unforgettable waiting for you.

Fundação INATEL

A Midsummer Night’s Dream — The Musical

Looking for a Lisbon summer with a cultural touch? Step into a forest where Shakespeare meets José Cid, Amália, and Ornatos Violeta. This musical has it all: a whirlwind of romantic confusion, mischievous fairies, and craftsmen who love the spotlight but lack common sense.

Directed by Diogo Infante, this acclaimed production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a real Portuguese “remix”: classics from Portuguese music are woven into the plot, as if they’d always belonged in Shakespeare’s world—and, surprisingly, it works! Artur Guimarães is an outstanding musical director, and the band pulses with exceptional energy. The whole cast shines, with standout performances from Miguel Raposo as Oberon and Carlos Malvarez as a devilish Puck—both can make even the sternest audience member burst out laughing.

This musical is an ode to love, chaos, and reinvention, with infectious energy and a rebellious streak that make it an unforgettable summer night out. Think you’ve seen everything Shakespeare has to offer? Think again: here, the characters are Portuguese to the core, and even the fairies sing “Chico Fininho”.

Where: Teatro da Trindade, Lisboa

Wednesday - Saturday at 9.00 pm

Sundays at 4:300 pm

The musical runs until July 6.

The Addams Family — The Musical

Ever wondered what it would be like to have dinner with the quirkiest family in pop culture? Teatro Maria Matos has the answer: The Addams Family treats you with chaos, humor, and musical numbers led by the occasional zombie. It’s a classic that never disappoints and promises to captivate audiences of all ages.

Everything is thrown into turmoil when Wednesday Addams, lovestruck, introduces her “normal” boyfriend to her parents, Gomez and Morticia. Meanwhile, Uncle Fester falls in love with the moon, and Lurch—played by Frederico Amaral—grunts with an expressive flair, delivering a fantastic performance. Rúben Madureira brings Gomez to life with perfect comedy timing, and Brienne Keller wows us with her vocals.

Ricardo Neves-Neves’ direction is a festival of dark humor, spot-on jokes, and choreography that makes even the family’s ancestors want to rise from their graves to dance. The cast is charismatic, the tunes will stick in your head for days, and the set looks like it was taken straight from a luxury cemetery. It’s a musical that reminds us that being weird is the new normal—and that every family has skeletons in the closet, some more entertaining than others.

Where: Teatro Maria Matos, Lisboa

Thursday - Sunday at 9.00 pm

Saturday & Sunday at 4:30 pm

The musical runs until July 6.

Lisbon Music Fest

Summer calls for nights out and a packed artistic agenda. The Lisbon Music Fest is back, and it fills the city’s most iconic monuments with the sound of young musicians from around the world. From the jazz rhythms of the Cincinnati Jazz Academy Orchestra at the Ruins of Carmo to the Appalachian Children’s Chorus at Palácio da Ajuda, this festival is a whirlwind tour of global youth talent.

The best part? There are concerts for every taste! Upcoming highlights include the US Guitar Orchestra (June 26), Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra (July 2), and a double feature with Taipei Philharmonic Youth Ensemble and Montreal Suzuki String Orchestra (July 9). And if you miss those, don’t worry - the marathon is not over yet. There’s music waiting to fill the rooms of Palácio da Ajuda, and Quarteto Tágide will take over Chiado’s National Museum of Contemporary Art.

Our favourite part? Every concert is free. No wristbands, no queues. Just show up and soak in the music and maybe a little history while you’re at it. With events stretching from Lisbon to Évora, Porto, Madrid, and Seville, Lisbon Music Fest is a reminder that summer’s greatest hits don’t always come with a price tag (or a mosh pit). Lisbon Music Fest proves summer’s best soundtrack is live, international, and open to all.

Where: Ruínas do Carmo – Museu Arqueológico do Carmo

Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea do Chiado

Palácio da Ajuda.

Also taking place in Porto, Évora, Seville, and Madrid.

The event ends on August 2nd.

From playful fairies to haunting harmonies, Lisbon’s summer shows prove that magic isn’t just in the monuments, it’s in the music, the laughter, and the shared applause. Don’t miss your chance to catch it all before the final curtain falls.
